Requires a very aggressive sweeping hookset — anglers used to a straight-up snap set will miss fish. Best results come from a long, sweeping side hookset that uses the full blank load.
• Heavy & Overloaded Presentations: The L843 Medium power and 3/4 oz ceiling are not appropriate for heavy cover, heavy jigs, or any payload exceeding 3/4 oz total weight. This blank is tuned for finesse and light-line applications — overloading it kills the Mod-Fast action's cushion effect and compromises treble hook retention on reaction strikes. Use the SJ843 for heavier spinning applications or the MB843/MB873 for casting power.
