The Forgiving Flex
The P813 is the ultimate solution for keeping hard-charging fish pinned on treble hooks. Built on a 45-Million Modulus Toray High-Modulus Carbon Fiber blank with a Nano-Resin matrix system — optimized for impact resistance and high toughness to eliminate the brittleness associated with high-modulus graphite — this rod is engineered for seamless energy dissipation. When a fish surges at the boat, the mid-modulus flex absorbs the violence instantly — no pulled hooks, no straightened trebles, just smooth, elastic cushioning between your hands and the fish. Moderate-Fast action means the blank bends deeply into the mid-section to cushion light-wire hooks, while the high-modulus core retains the crisp responsiveness required to launch lightweight plugs.
Micro-Targets. Maximum Control.
If you are tired of overshooting targets with clumsy, over-powered gear, the P813 provides surgical control over light reaction baits. At 6 feet 8 inches, it sits in the absolute sweet spot for close-quarters accuracy — short enough to execute precise underhand roll-casts beneath overhanging limbs, long enough to generate the tip speed needed to freeze a tiny plug into a headwind. This is the exact length serious tournament anglers reach for when target-casting to specific rock veins, dock pilings, or weed edges.
The P813 isn't a stiff, dead stick — it's an incredibly sensitive extension of your wrist. It is the ultimate light-line weapon for turning tentative slaps into locked-up drag.
- Squarebills & Mid-Depth Cranks — the Moderate-Fast taper delays the hookset just long enough for the fish to inhale the bait, while the Medium-Light power prevents tearing small trebles out of soft mouth tissue during the fight
- Jerkbaits & Suspending Baits — the 6'8" length allows for downward rod snaps without slapping the water or boat gunwales, while the crisp recovery snaps the bait to life and immediately returns to a slack line
- Topwater & Light Wire Moving Baits — provides the perfect parabolic cushion for small poppers and walking baits, keeping aggressive topwater explosions pinned without tearing the hooks clear of the fish
- Single Colorado Blade Spinnerbaits (Inshore) — transmits the heavy thump of a single blade directly to your hands while the forgiving tip allows fish to fully engulf the skirted bait before the blank loads up
- Finesse Minnow Plugs — delivers the precise lateral action and erratic darting motions required to trigger finicky fish on small, fixed-weight minnow baits without overpowering the plug's natural tracking
- Small Lipless Cranks — the ideal blend of a soft tip to let fish track and inhale a vibrating bait, combined with a responsive high-modulus core to cleanly rip the lure out of submerged grass clumps
P813 — 6'8" ML Mod-Fast Casting. The Hard-Bait Finesse Specialist.
Freshwater Techniques
- Black Bass: The premier small crankbait and jerkbait tool for finicky cold-water fish, and the perfect choice for open-water finesse presentations. Built to cushion the sudden, violent surges of big largemouth and smallmouth on light line.
- River Trout: Launching mid-sized trout spoons and sinking minnow plugs across heavy river currents.
- White/Hybrid Bass: Ripping small lipless baits or trolling micro-plugs through schooling fish in open reservoirs.
Inshore Saltwater Techniques
- Redfish: Presenting downsized topwater plugs or tiny wakebaits over shallow flats without spooking wary fish. The Moderate-Fast action handles the blistering initial runs of slot reds on light wire hooks.
- Speckled Trout: Twitching small suspending twitchbaits and soft-plastic minnow plugs over fragile grass flats — the soft tip prevents tearing the delicate, paper-thin mouths of trophy trout.
- Spybaits & Finesse Spinbaits: Spybaits physically fit within the 1/8–1/2 oz lure rating, but spinning gear is the overwhelming industry standard for this presentation. The ultra-light fluorocarbon (4–6 lb) required for proper spybait depth and body roll creates spool startup inertia issues on casting reels. If fishing spybaits on this casting model, use a thin high-performance braid-to-fluoro leader system to maximize spool efficiency and minimize backlash risk.
- Texas Rigs, Ned Rigs & Jigs — Not Recommended: The P813 Medium Light power and Moderate-Fast action are not designed for single-hook bottom-contact presentations. The blank does not generate the backbone required to drive heavy-wire hooks through soft plastic and into a bony jaw, and the 1/2 oz ceiling is a hard boundary — not a Texas rig operating point. For drop shot and Ned rig applications, use the SJ842. For Texas rigs and jigs, use the MB843 or MB873.
- Blank: 45-Million Modulus Toray High-Modulus Carbon Fiber with Nano-Resin matrix system — optimized for impact resistance and high toughness to eliminate the brittleness associated with high-modulus graphite
- Guides: American Tackle TiForge Air — premium, marine-grade 316 Stainless Steel frames featuring an insertless, hardened stainless-steel ring design to maximize sensitivity, eliminate ceramic ring blowout, and minimize tip weight
- Grips: Premium cork split grips — classic aesthetic with maximum tactile feedback
- Reel Seat: Ergonomic design for all-day comfort during high-repetition casting

Love my 6’8 ML rod. My accuracy shot up skipping docks with this rod tremendously! Huge improvement from last year
Dock skipping accuracy on the P813 is unreal — glad it's working for you. Appreciate the feedback, Tim!
